The music festival season buzz is in the air once again, so it's time to dust off the tent, get the sleeping bags out of the loft and start thinking about what festival gear that you are going to need. A new website has been brought to my attention called Survive The Festival.

As you can guesss from the name of the site, it 'does what it says on the tin' and includes lots of handy hints and tips gathered from genuine festival goers. Check out their website and don't forget to like their facebook page as well.

Post-Glastonbury Festival Essential Tips

We are hearing reports that the 40th Anniversary Glastonbury Festival was a great success and for once the weather held out for the whole weekend. One of our customers reported that it was was hot! hot! hot! We sold plenty of Neoprene Can Coolers in the weeks leading up to to Glastonbury Festival, so hopefully these got plenty of use and made it feel a little bit cooler.

One of our Twitter followers has returned from Glastonbury and suggested some more amazing festival essential tips. We just had to share them with you, as we are sure that you will find the tips useful the next time you are camping at a music festival.

Gaffer Tape
Great for making fast repairs to tents, groundsheets and wellies. Not only waterproof but can be torn very easily without the use of a pair of scissors.

Plasters
Festival camping can be a bit rough and tumble, especially if you have had a few drinks too many. It's very easy to trip over tent pegs and guy lines on your way back to your tent in the dark (I have done it myself many times). Also handy for mishaps during tent assembly and dismantling.

Tarpaulin
Gives an extra bit of shade from the heat of the midday sun! Go for a tarp with the aluminium eyelets already fitted in place, then you can simply attach ropes or chord and stake down with a few spare tent pegs.

Sandwich Bags
Place a wad of wet wipes in a sandwich bag. These can then be carried in your bag or pocket. Better than carrying the whole lot around with you.

Bestival 2009 - the countdown begins!

The countdown to Bestival 2009 begins with less than 2 weeks before blast off! Bestival is hosted by BBC Radio 1 DJ, Rob da Bank, and has one of the best line ups of all the festivals in 2009. The pioneers of electro pop, Kraftwerk will be appearing, along with Future Sound of London, Bat For Lashes, La Roux and Florence & The Machine.

With so many festivals on offer each year, Bestival sets itself apart by having a different theme each year. The organisers have gone cosmic - the theme is Bestival 2009: A Space Oddity as this year is the 40th Anniversary of the Moon landings.

Kraftwerk has to be one of the most influential groups to have emerged from the space age. Their futuristic electronic music has inspired musicians as diverse as David Bowie, Joy Division, Air, Hot Chip, Pet Shop Boys and Coldplay. The electronic synthesizer band from Dusseldorf, Germany are best known for their futuristic image and songs about train travel, pocket calculators, robots, computer dating, bicycle racing, the internet and living in space.

Glastonbury Festival Survival Guide

Festival season is upon us again and it kicks off with the Mother of all Festivals Glastonbury, which starts at the end of this month. So we thought that we would give you a few hints and tips to ensure that you have a fantastic time!

Remember that the British weather can be very unpredictable so be prepared. Please make sure that you bring your waterproofs, you never know when there could be a heavy downfall!

A pair of funky wellies are an essential part of the kit, not only will you look good but your feet and legs will stay dry and mud free. A clear dome umbrella is also of great benefit, not only will it keep your hair nice and dry and stop it turning into a total frizz, but you will still be able to watch the bands through it as it is completely clear!

Make sure that you bring lots of high protection sun tan lotion, even though it might not feel that hot remember that you will be outside most of the day so protect yourself. Shoulders, backs of necks and noses are particularly vulnerable so slap it on!

Even though the days may be scorching, the nights can get a bit chilly so make sure you keep yourself nice and warm when you are tucked up in your sleeping bag. Wear a Tibetan Fleece Lined Hat as we lose most of our body heat through or heads, and keep your feet nice and toasty with some Elle welly socks.

Pack a small first aid kit, which includes, plasters for the blisters on your feet from all that dancing! paracetamol for those hangover headaches and some antiseptic cream for those insect bites and stings.

Bring a Powerchimp so that your mobile can be fully charged at all times, you never know who you might want to call!

Drink lots of water, we know it sounds boring but remember that alcohol can make us dehydrated and that combined with a very hot day could make you feel unwell and we don’t want that do we!

Bring some condoms, you may be thinking that your not going to Glastonbury with that intention, but we know that we can all get a bit carried away at times so it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Try personalising your tent a little, perhaps tie a small scarf or flag to it so that you can identify it a bit easier amongst all the other tents.

A torch is an absolute must have, as getting back to your tent at night can be rather tricky especially when you’re a bit tipsy!

Don’t keep anything of any value in your tent, unfortunately some people do get their tents broken into, so be careful.

If you are in a group please look out for each other, Glastonbury is huge so make sure that you have a plan if someone gets lost.

Most of all we want you to have a great time, so be safe, be happy and have fun!

Southend Fringe Festival

Southend Fringe Festival is based on the same basic premise as the fringes in Edinburgh and Brighton. It is open access and covers all forms of arts and media, in line with the main Southend Festival which is now in its 7th year. The festival kicks off with a craft fair on Saturday 6th June 2009, at the lovely Chalkwell Park in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex and Future DayDreams will be exhibiting for the first time this year. The festival will run through until Friday 26th June 2009.

11am-4pm
Entry is FREE to all

Funky Beer Can Coolers and Bottle Holders
